01/01/1970 - G-20 Pittsburgh Student SummitSycor was pleased to be involved in the Pittsburgh G-20 Student Summit on Thursday, September 17 at Fox Chapel Area High School. Sycor sent 3 executives, Jim Marczak, Manish Bahl and Klaus Wilmes. Each person moderated in separate breakout sessions to help the students to better understand the current policies of Canada, India and Germany. Jim Marczak felt that “the biggest, long term impact of the G-20 Summit coming to Pittsburgh will be as a result of the participation of our region’s children in this Student Summit. I am very impressed by the level of the students’ understanding of the global issues. This is a good sign for our region as a whole because it will lead to our increased ability to succeed in this global economy, along with a better awareness of the trade-offs involved when dealing with economic, environmental and energy issues.” Manish Bahl would like to congratulate World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh for successfully organizing such an amazing event! The event allowed Pittsburgh area students to get involved in G 20, and learn about important global issues which is a big step towards preparing them to become global citizens. Klaus Wilmes enjoyed his time at the Junior G-20 and said, “I was thrilled and honoured to be part of this truly remarkable event. After arriving home, I talked about this a lot in Germany and everybody was amazed with how much effort was invested in the U.S. to bring the true content and feeling of the G-20 into the young generation. I was impressed by the quality of the discussions in the “German” class. The students were well prepared and we shared spirited, but always fair exchanges. I admire their ability to listen to one another and I hope the leaders of the G-20 Summit did the same – in the best interest of the global community.” Pictures from the event:
